Fading into the Forest
, 01 11th, 2010
Any avid hunter will tell you that the first rule to safe and successful hunting is to camouflage yourself. Well, maybe gun safety - like not pointing your gun at other people - would take the blue ribbon for first. But either way, dressing to blend in with your natural surroundings is very important. It will be a very long and unfortunate hunting season if you stand out as a human and scare away all the deer.
Because hunting is such a popular sport in the United States, finding head-to-toe camo fabric to dress up in is easy. Starting with the basics, a long-sleeved T-shirt and hunting overalls or pants with a camo print will cover most of your body. Next are the camo boots, hat and gloves. But don’t forget a bright orange wardrobe highlight of some sort; you don’t want to blend in so well that you accidently become the hunted. Now you can even find a wide variety of ladies camo clothing that still shows off your figure.
The New Camo Craze
, 12 28th, 2009
There was a brief time on the fashion front when camo was all the rage. You couldn’t walk down the street without seeing somebody wearing camouflage fabric in some capacity or another. Whether it was camo pants, a camo hat, or a camo tee, it was just about everyone. And while that craze has died down some and you’re far less likely to see somebody looking like a military commando on the subway, a new and more sophisticated look is taking over camo.
Rather than those old army reminiscent pants, you can find an assortment of stylishly designed ladies camouflage clothing that is perfect for casual wear or at the office. No longer is camo simply for outdoorsmen and hunting enthusiasts.
Camouflage Accessories

I recently have found myself infatuated with the camo fashion trend. It seems that every piece of clothing that I’ve added to my wardrobe has some form of camo influence. Although I love the appeal of camouflage, I have found it difficult to find accessories to go with my duds.
After scouring the internet, I was able to find a great camo handbag to go with all of my outfits. The best part is that the handbag goes perfectly with all of my other clothing as well. Choosing jewelry hasn’t been nearly as difficult; I simply use silver and subtle pieces to gently accent my clothing.
A Look That Stands the Test of Time
, 09 30th, 2009Women’s clothing styles are cyclical by their very nature. A pair of shoes or slacks that are considered all the rage one season could constitute a major fashion faux pas the next. Runway models from such far-flung places as Paris and Milan often set the tone for ladies’ fashion, and what is popular in France this year might not reach American shores until 2010.
While foreign fashions come and go, a few classic looks remain suitable for any season and any decade. The pink camo shirt is a play on traditional American military fatigues; it’s a playful look that suggests physical toughness and an independent spirit. Still, the pink shading conveys an unmistakable feminine sensibility. Basically, it’s a look that won’t go stale or look ridiculous in a few months’ time.
Evolution of Camouflage Fashion

Although camouflage is traditionally associated with hunting and military use, these stylish patterns are utilized just as often for fashion purposes. If servicemen and women adopt camouflage fatigues to evade detection, the proud owner of a ladies camo shirt is doing just the opposite. She wants to be seen, and she’s not ashamed to let everyone know it.
Camo clothes are widely available in boutique stores these days, but it was originally adopted by civilians who shopped at military surplus stores. The family members of retired soldiers would end up with an abundance of camouflage articles of clothing, and they would send whatever they couldn’t use to the surplus store. Today camo clothes are made especially for aesthetic purposes.

With a little forethought and creativity, it’s possible for fashion-savvy women to find stylish clothes on a budget. This does not have to mean forsaking quality for a few cheap garments, however. In many instances, you can reuse the same flashy article of clothing in a number of different contexts. This is especially true of camouflage clothing, which has recently made a resurgence in the fashion world.
On the fashionista front, camo patterns are all the rage because of their unique versatility. They can be the centerpiece of your outfit or act as subdued accompaniment. Camo clothes can also serve as a reminder to support our nation’s men and women stationed overseas. Finally, ladies camouflage clothing can be worn in a practical sense – out in the woods during a hunt. Ladies can take their place side-by-side with their husbands in a deer blind, totally looking the part of wilderness assassin.
Start a Clothing Revolution

Camouflage clothing is typically associated with a military aesthetic, and rightfully so. The look translates seamlessly from the field of battle to the fashion world. It’s a well known paradox that camouflage duds stand out in sharp relief against a backdrop of dull clothing design.
Ladies who adopt a camo fashion statement have nothing to hide. In fact, they prefer reflect their inner strength through spirited camouflage garb. Ladies camo clothing can be subtle when worn underneath an overcoat or as an accessory, but it’s probably most effective as the standout piece in a complementary outfit.
Accessorize with Success

If you’re finally getting into the camouflage trend, it would suit you to find matching accessories to compliment your outfits. Like the sudden reemergence of Army-inspired clothing, finding a camo tote would work really well with an outfit.
As I discussed in a previous post, women’s camo wear is all the rage and making sure that you’re not using a hobo bag or a designer purse with a more casual style can make the difference between chic and disaster.
Chic, not Geek
, 06 02nd, 2009
For many people, camo may be the trend for 15 year old Army brats wearing their dad’s stuff (or really just teenagers in general), but it’s finding a welcome new place in hipster fashion. Thanks to scene trendsetters like Jesse Lacey of Brand New, wearing army-inspired clothing is more chic than ever.
Ladies camouflage is now widely available and in various styles, so you’re not just wearing the same style of camo. Camouflage also comes in different colors, not just the typical green and browns. This time it’s about standing out, not blending in.
Say It All…With Your Purse
, 05 14th, 2009
If you thought the camouflage look was only for tomboys, think again. Camouflage used to be limited to fatigues or other clothing that was reminiscent of the military, but nowadays, the fabric has expanded in popularity to be used in many different color schemes and styles of clothing. For example, it is possible to purchase all kinds of skirts and professional wear that utilizes the camo color palette without overtly using the traditional camo pattern.
Camo accessories have also received an overhaul. While it used to be commonplace that a camo purse would resemble a military knapsack or other strictly pragmatic style, it is common to find products now such as a pink camo purse. In particular, these purses are the perfect blend of masculinity and femininity, as they use the strong and bold camo pattern with the girly touch of pink. If fashion is all about making statements, these kinds of accessories will announce you as a strong feminine force.
